AI Isn't the Enemy - It's Your Mindset

I keep hearing the same concerns in conversations about AI—from smart, successful people.
“I don’t know that I trust it.”
And some version of:
“Tried it once. It wasn’t very helpful.”
What I actually hear:
I might have to change how I lead. I might have to learn something new.
The Real Issue
The fear around AI has less to do with machines—and more to do with resistance. It’s not that leaders can’t learn new tools. It’s that we’ve tied our value to knowing, not learning. We lead with answers, not questions.
It’s easy to highlight the pitfalls without considering the possibilities. That’s not just caution—it’s a fixed mindset. What’s needed now is a growth mindset, especially about technology.
Why It Matters
When leaders resist change, their teams feel it.
Innovation slows
Trust erodes
Opportunities are missed
AI isn’t here to replace leadership—it’s here to redefine it.
The leaders and teams that thrive will be those who treat AI like a partner:
asking questions, challenging assumptions, and diving deeper together.
Your perspective of AI reflects your mindset, not your skill set.
The Better Way
You don’t need to be an AI expert. And yes, the tools are improving every day.
If you don’t know an AI Agent from an LLM, that’s OK. You need to be curious, intentional, and open to the discomfort of not knowing.
Ask better questions. Lead with learning.
Model the mindset you want your team to develop.
🧂 Challenge Question
What story are you telling yourself about AI that’s keeping you small?

Sprinkle
Try this: Instead of asking, “How can I trust it?” ask, “What do I want to create?”
